The TrojanNosh story
19 out of 20 Australian Kids don’t eat enough fruit or vegetables. Let’s change that
The challenge of busy households
Like many families, we both work full-time jobs—balancing careers, kids, and the chaos of daily life. We’re not alone in this: studies show the number of dual-income families is rising every year, with more parents juggling the demands of home and work life.
19 out of 20 Australian Kids don’t eat enough fruit and vegetables
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ National Health Survey 2022, the proportion of Australian children aged 2–17 meeting the recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables. A mere 4.3% met both the fruit and vegetable recommendations. This figure represents a decline from previous years. In 2017–18, 6.0% of children met the recommendations.

But when we had kids, we discovered that mealtimes were one of the biggest challenges of all. Finding the time to cook something that’s both nutritionally balanced and tastes great was hard enough, but getting our kids to actually eat it? That was a whole new battle. As a result 19 out of 20 kids don’t eat enough vegetables? And that number is quickly trending in the wrong direction.
The Trojan solution
We knew there had to be a better way, and that’s when the idea for Trojan Meals was born. Inspired by the legend of the Trojan horse, we decided to “hide” vegetables in meals that kids already love. Over the years, we perfected recipes that not only sneak in a generous helping of veggies but also taste so good that the whole family enjoys them—no complaints, no compromises.
Our Sunday ritual
Every Sunday, we’d spend a few hours in the kitchen cooking up meals to stock our freezer, making dinnertime quick, easy, and stress-free for the week ahead. These meals saved us time, ensured our kids ate better, and let us enjoy dinner together as a family. Those Sundays weren’t just about cooking—they were about creating a solution that worked for us, and we have fond memories (and photos!) to share from those days.
Introducing TrojanNosh
We realized that so many other families face the same struggles we did: the lack of time, the pressure to make healthy meals, and the constant battle of picky eaters. That’s why we created Trojan Meals—to bring the convenience of our Sunday cook-ups to your freeze.
